If they are ill, do I need to pick them up?

This depends on the child and their symptoms – if a child has a cold but is happy in themselves, it’s ok for them to stay at nursery. However, if the nursery team thinks the symptoms are or could be contagious, then the child will need to be picked up. If your child has had vomiting or diarrhoea, please do not let them return to nursery until 48 hours from their last bout. All exclusion periods are in line with UKHSA guidance on infectious diseases.
