Why N Ockham?

Formerly known as Red Balloon – but now newly under the management of N Family Club – our Ofsted Outstanding Ockham nursery is located in an idyllic countryside spot on the beautiful grounds of Pound Farm. We’re delighted to be part of this thriving Surrey community and look forward to welcoming lots of our neighbouring families to our freshly renovated spaces.

Surrounded by farmland, the nursery is filled with character while equally purpose-built to support every element of our early years curriculum. Our playrooms are filled with natural light, while outside, our large gardens come complete with a climbing structure, slide and race track.

Open longer

Our standard day is 8am – 6pm, with an option to extend this by half an hour to ensure flexibility for our families.

Rethinking Early Years Education

Here at N, we’re on a mission to Rethink Early Years, offering a fresh educational outlook to prepare children for life in the modern world. Working with leading early years experts, we’ve blended our own unique curriculum, taking influence from a variety of learning philosophies including Reggio Emilia, Bruner, Forest School and Montessori. In 2022 we were named the UK’s highest quality nursery group and we believe that our bespoke approach, combined with the learning outlined by the EYFS, supports all of our children to play and explore, be active learners and critical thinkers.

Our bespoke curriculum is split into four key pillars of learning:

Holistic health

Self expression

Global responsibility

Inventive ideas

The N Day

Drop off

We recognise that mornings can be a challenge, and we’re committed to doing everything we can to ensure a positive and warm start to the day.

Child-led play

Children are able to freely play with our many resources including our art studio, dress-up stations and the N library.

Mealtimes

All N meals are prepared from scratch by our in-house chefs. We have family mealtimes where the children eat as a group with their key educators.

Educator-led learning

Every day our educators will lead small group or individual sessions covering a wide range of topics, including yoga and cooking.

Outdoor learning

Our gardens provide the perfect backdrop for physical activities such as climbing, ball games and obstacle courses, as well as Forest School-inspired learning, planting and water play.

Sleep and rest

Our nursery rooms are designed to convert into cosy sleeping spaces, while children who no longer require a sleep can still relax in our designed ‘hygge’ corners.

Pick up

At home time, parents are encouraged to come in and chat with the educators and hear all about their child’s day and accomplishments.

Menu

We’ve worked with the former Head of Nutrition at Jamie Oliver, Laura Matthews, to make sure that we deliver a balanced menu that supports every child’s developmental needs. Our chefs prepare fresh meals in our cafe kitchen, everyday.

The N Ockham Management Team

Claudia

Deputy Nursery Manager

Claudia Coleto is from Spain and has been in Early Years for 10 years. She has held various roles from practitioner to QTS teacher. She is passionate about child care and holds a degree in Early Childhood Education and Primary Education. She introduced mindfulness and yoga in the nursery to improve children's well-being and also enjoys teaching Spanish language lessons.

Gemma

Mum of 2 Gemma has been working in early years for over 10 years. She’s worked in various settings, including Outstanding nurseries and at a Forest School setting. Outside of nursery life, she enjoys exploring nature with her children: going for walks and going to the beach.

Keely

Support Manager

Keely's journey in childcare began 28 years ago when she worked as a Level 3 nursery nurse in school settings in North Wales, providing support to all year groups. In 2001, Keely moved South and found her passion in day nursery settings and completed her Early Years degree in childcare and education. She enjoys meeting with friends, going to the theatre, travelling, and indulging in a spa day during her free time. Keely is looking forward to meeting new people and making new connections.

Kirsty

Deputy Manager

Kirsty has a QTS qualification, and spent time as a Year 1 teacher before moving into early years education. She’s really keen to develop her practice in specialist areas, particularly in supporting children with additional needs. She loves going on family days out and scuba diving in her spare time.

Mandy

Front of House Manager

Mandy has a BA Hons in Early Years Teaching with Early Years Professional Status and has been working in education since 1998. She has experience working with children aged 0-19, as well as adults in further education, and has also worked in customer service roles. Becky grew up in Ash, in the same house she lives in now! She is a mum of 2 children, a grown daughter. She joined the Early Years sector in 2012 and found her true passion - supporting children to become the best versions of themselves. She strived to gain more knowledge and experience that would enable her to fully support each child, completed her level 3 in Children & Young People's Workforce, and then went on to gain a BA (Hons) in Early Years Education and Practice. She is particularly interested in supporting children with SEND needs, being passionate about providing inclusive education and support for all children.
