Giant tic tac toe

Cardboard cutouts for a DIY tictactoe
Cardboard cutouts for a DIY tictactoe

What you need

  • Piece of cardboard (reuse a pizza or cereal box)
  • Scissors
  • Coloured Tape

Benefits

Opportunity to get creative, be friendly to the environment and make something that can be reused. It is also a chance to talk in detail about shapes: they’re similarities, differences and where we may see these shapes in everyday life.

The experience

Prepare your cardboard, a flat square piece for the game board and another piece to create the game pieces. (The traditional shapes are circles and crosses, but feel free to change it up and use whichever shapes you like!) Cut out at least five pieces of each and decorate them.

Use the tape to create six equal sized squares. Tic tac toe, you’re ready to go!

Few simple instructions on how to play tic tac toe:

  1. The game is played on a grid that’s 3 squares by 3 squares.
  2. You are X, your friend is O (or any other symbol you create above). Players take turns putting their marks in empty squares.
  3. The first player to get 3 of their marks in a row (up, down, across, or diagonally) is the winner.
  4. When all 9 squares are full, the game is over.

Have Fun!
