Your listening ears.
Music and interaction with your little one supports language acquisition and helps with speech development. Your child will further develop their listening and attention skills while interacting with others and learning.
In a nice and cosy corner in your home, sit comfortably and listen to this wonderful song, ‘Let’s go fly a kite’ from the Walt Disney movie, ‘Mary Poppins’. If your child is able to sit unassisted, encourage them to sit next to you; otherwise, place them on your lap and get ready to fly up into the sky like a kite!
As soon as the song goes ‘..oh oh oh, Let’s go fly a kite..’ fly your baby up in the air to the rhythm of the song and repeat again after the next chorus.
For older children, why not pretend to be colourful kites flying into the sky instead? Lyrics:
With tuppence for paper and strings You can have your own set of wings With your feet on the ground You're a bird in flight With your fist holding tight To the string of your kite
Oh, oh, oh! Let's go fly a kite Up to the highest height! Let's go fly a kite and send it soaring Up through the atmosphere Up where the air is clear Oh, let's go fly a kite!
When you send it flyin' up there All at once, you're lighter than air You can dance on the breeze Over 'houses and trees With your fist holding tight To the string of your kite
Oh, oh, oh! Let's go fly a kite Up to the highest height! Let's go fly a kite and send it soaring Up through the atmosphere Up where the air is clear Let's go fly a kite!
