Makaton is a visual way to develop communication skills, which helps stimulate sounds and words. This visual way of communicating in turn helps to encourage language development, i.e. putting words together. Makaton helps understanding, giving the child or adult an extra visual clue.
Find a nice and cosy area in your house and get ready for some singing of your favourite animals. While watching the video recording, try and copy the moves to add the visual element too. Encourage your baby to copy the moves too. You can support them by navigating their hands to copy the moves. You can then repeat the Makaton singing as many times as you like to learn all the moves and gestures.
