Makaton signing is a visual way to develop communication skills, which helps stimulate sounds and words. This visual way of communicating, in turn, helps to encourage language development, i.e. putting words together. Makaton helps understanding, giving your child an extra visual clue.
Find a nice and cosy area in your house and get ready for some singing and signing. While listening to the video recording, try and copy the moves to add the visual element to your singing routine. Encourage your baby to copy the moves too. You can support them by navigating their hands to copy the moves too. You can then repeat the singing and signing as many times as you like to learn all the moves and gestures.
Lyrics:
Baa, baa, black sheep,
Have you any wool?
Yes sir, yes sir,
Three bags full.
One for the master,
One for the dame,
And one for the little boy
Who lives down the lane.
Thank you says the master
Thank you say the dame
And thank you says the little boy
Who lives down the lane.
