What you need

  • Cardboard boxes
  • A pack of playing cards or balls, or any other materials you could slot into your post box.

Benefits

This activity helps to develop your child’s fine motor skills as they slot their items into the box.

The experience

Let’s make a post box! Bearing in mind the shape and size of the objects your child will be posting into the box, post cut holes in the cardboard boxes. E.g. if you’re going to post playing cards then cut a rectangle into the box, if you’re using balls then cut a circle. You can try posting items of lots of different shapes and sizes; try cutting different sized holes so your child has to figure out which hole will fit each type of item.
