Flight of the bumblebee

What you need

  • A space your child can move around in. This could be an open room or in the garden.
  • Means to play music.

Benefits

For little ones who are on the move and confidently walking (and running!), this experience will support them in developing gross motor skills as well as being a great source of burning off some energy!

The experience

Play ‘Flight of the Bumblebee’ by Rimsky Korsakov (this can be found on YouTube or any music streaming platform).

Encourage your child to move like a bumblebee; they can make buzzing noises, move their arms like wings and move around to the music. The fast pace of the music can encourage your child to move around quickly – a great energy burner! You could also look at some videos of buzzing bees to add further context to the experience.
