I can draw me!

What you need

  • A mirror
  • A mixture of coloured pencils

Benefits

  • This activity supports your child in learning about themselves, what features they have and what makes them special and unique.
  • It also supports their fine motor skills, practicing drawing shapes and holding pencils.

The experience

Encourage your child to look at themselves in a mirror; talk about their features and what colours and shapes they can see.

Then support your child in transferring this onto paper. This may lead to them drawing people they care about, you can chat about your similarity and differences.

  • What colour hair do I have?
  • Am I bigger or smaller than you?
  • What colour eyes do you have
  • Do we both have two eyes, ears, one nose?
