Making a photo album

What you need

  • A few photos with family and friends
  • A hole puncher
  • A piece of yarn

Benefits

With this activity, we are working to build early language and literacy skills as well as self-confidence. It also increases curiosity and creates emotional security.

The experience

Photo albums are a great tool to support language development in younger children. Why not make your own little photo album:

  • Glue photos of your child and the important people in their life onto sturdy 4×6 index cards.
  • Punch a hole in the upper left corner of each card and tie them together with a short piece of yarn.
  • Share the book with your child.

They will love seeing pictures of the people they love and hearing you talk about them.

For older children (over 1s), encourage your child to discuss each picture with you. Who can they spot in each picture?
