Making a telephone

What you need

2 empty and clean yogurt pots, string, scissors, tape.

Benefits

Experimenting, using expressive language, extending vocabulary, developing fine motor skills, learning to use scissors.

The experience

Clean two yogurt pots thoroughly and cut two small holes in the bottom. Push the string through the holes and tie it or tape it. Now you can experiment with what you hear, taking it in turns with your child for one of you to speak into the pot and one to listen, holding their pot to their ear. Deliver important information such as “Lunch is ready” or tell a story/invent a role play. You could experiment with making different noises, trying a whisper voice/scary voice/animal sounds, etc. This can provide lots of fun for the whole family!
