What you need

A large cardboard box and some crayons.

Benefits

Your child will develop their fine and gross motor skills as they make marks with their crayons. Their engagement levels will increase through being inside the box, and the excitement of being able to crawl or step inside!

The experience

Provide a large cardboard box and some crayons. For babies not yet walking, position the box on its side so your baby can crawl in. They may even enjoy having tummy time lying inside the box and using their crayon to make marks and scribbles on the cardboard.

For children who are confidently walking, encourage them to step inside the box and enjoy sitting and drawing and mark making, to decorate the inside of the box. For added fun, create some holes in the box for your child to enjoy peeping through.
