Read moreYour singing voices and means to play different types of music for inspiration.
Imagination and creativity, being able to listen and tune into different sounds and recreate them with their own voice, through exploring different types of singing. These skills are all part of your child’s phonetical development.
Have fun singing well-known songs in different ways.
Ask your child to pick some of their favourite songs. They may have some in mind or you could suggest some simple nursery rhymes such as ‘Twinkle twinkle little star’, ‘Baa baa black sheep’, ‘Humpty Dumpty’, etc. However, rather than singing these as normal, explain to your child that you are going to try new styles. Suggest some options and come up with some ideas together. It could include opera style/rock and roll/squeaky ‘mouse voice’ and as many other styles as you come up with! Try listening to some music in these styles to gain inspiration if your child is not sure.
