Reflections sensory play

What you need

  • A mirror
  • Silver pots and utensils (spoons, large and small; whisk)
  • Tinsel
  • Shiny bangles
  • Metal bowl
  • Shiny material
  • Sieve
  • Beads

Benefits

  • Encourages use of senses; sight, touch, sound.
  • Supports perception of themselves and the world by looking in mirrors and reflections on objects.

The experience

Set out a large area (on a rug or soft floor) and lay out the materials (some suggestive, for example placing spoons and beads in a metal bowl to encourage your child to make sounds with the materials) and let your child explore; banging, tapping, mouthing and feeling objects, looking at their reflection and uses their senses!
