Painting can support your child’s hand-eye coordination and helps them develop their mobility skills.
The experience
For this activity, you can either use real flowers or cut the top of straws a few times and spread the cut pieces to make a flower shape. Why not look at an image of Van Gogh’s Sunflowers for inspiration? You can then model to your child how to stamp the flower shape in the paint and then on to paper.
As you stamp the flower you can use simple language such as ‘dip’, ‘pat’, ‘stamp’, ‘tap’ for your child to become familiar with these words.
