What you need

  • Masking tape, electrical tape or string
  • Clear space
  • Rucksack/bag or bucket filled with a small amount of water

Benefits

This activity develops gross motor skills and helps to improve concentration.

The experience

Lay out the masking tape, electrical tape or string on the floor in a straight line

Show your child how to ‘walk the line’ one foot in front of the other, or as close to the line as possible for younger children. Give your child a chance to show off their amazing skills!

Variation: create a zig-zag or wavy line for your child to walk to make it more exciting!

If your child finds this activity easy, challenge them to hold a bucket with some water in and to walk along the line. Or, fill their N rucksack with wooden blocks or Lego for another added challenge!
