Start singing the song, touching the scarves as you sing, gently lifting some of them up in the air. For babies, try letting the scarves fall slowly on their head. For older children, encourage them to wave the scarf in the air and dance with it.
Let your child explore the scarves, feel their texture or even play a little peek-a-boo game whilst you say the name of the colours out loud. As you repeat singing the song, let your child touch each scarf and encourage them to sing or sound the names of the colours. Even young babies can enjoy babbling along!
Older children can also enjoy varying the tempo of the song – can they dance with the different colours if singing the song really fast?!
I can sing a rainbow lyrics:
Red and yellow and pink and green
Purple and orange and blue,
I can sing a rainbow,
Sing a rainbow,
Sing a rainbow too.
Listen with your ears,
Listen with your eyes,
And sing everything you see!
I can sing a rainbow,
Sing a rainbow,
Sing along with me…
Red and yellow and pink and green
Purple and orange and blue,
I can sing a rainbow,
Sing a rainbow,
Sing a rainbow too.
Listen with your ears,
Listen with your eyes,
And sing everything you see!
I can sing a rainbow,
Sing a rainbow,
Sing along with me.
