What you need
- A piece of paper with a tooth outline drawn onto it
- A plastic wallet
- A marker pen
- An old toothbrush (or one not needed for toothbrushing!)

A great way to open up discussion around why it is important to brush our teeth and how to do it properly.
The experience
Put your drawing of your tooth outline into the plastic wallet. Use a marker pen to colour over the tooth and explain to your child that when they have been eating and drinking during the day, although we can’t see anything on our teeth, there are lots of invisible things to brush away!
Explain that they need to use the toothbrush to clean the tooth and make it all white again. Talk about how when we are brushing our teeth, it is important to do it really well and that we don’t miss a spot.
For older children, you could also have a discussion around the foods that are best for our teeth and foods that can be bad and should only be eaten a little bit.
